Managing client sites

Preview, site admin handoff, builds and redeploys, custom domains, deleting unpaid previews, and subscription status.

Use the partner portal to manage the sites you provisioned for clients. Sites lists every site you manage, and each client's page lists theirs.

The site page

Open a site from Sites, your dashboard, or the client's page. Depending on where the site is, you'll see:

  • Preview site: opens the preview. Previews are password protected: use the preview password you set when you provisioned the site, or the one the Partner API returned once.
  • Open site admin: signs you in to the client's site admin to manage content, theme and CRM. It appears once the site is deployed; until then the page tells you why it isn't available yet.
  • Set pricing: creates the client's checkout link. It's shown until the site is paid.
  • Change monthly price: shown instead once the site is paid.
  • Builds: the site's recent builds, why a failed one failed, and Retry build or Redeploy site.
  • Custom domain: connect, verify or remove the client's own domain, once the site has been built.
  • Delete this preview: only on sites nobody has paid for.

We email you when a site's first build is live, or if the build fails.

After you create a checkout link, the site page shows it with:

  • Copy link, to send it yourself.
  • Email this link to your client.
  • Cancel link, which stops the link working (for example, if you sent the wrong price).

Each site has one payable link at a time: creating a new link cancels the earlier unpaid one. Links expire after 30 days. Once the site is paid, no new link can be created; to change what a paying client pays each month, use Change monthly price on the site page.

Subscription status

After your client completes checkout, the site's subscription becomes active and we email you that the payment came in.

If a client's payment fails, the site shows Payment failed on your dashboard and site page, and we email you a link your client can use to pay the open invoice. We also email you when a client's subscription is cancelled.

Earnings

Each site page shows the commission you've earned on it, and each client page lists recent commission entries. If your payout account isn't ready when a client pays, the commission is held as owed and paid automatically once Stripe enables payouts.

Builds and redeploys

The Builds panel shows the site's recent builds and their status. When a build fails, it shows the reason your client would see in their own login. Detailed build logs stay with the NurtureSite team.

  • Retry build (after a failure) starts the build again with the lightest fix: it reuses the saved site plan when it can, and otherwise regenerates the content or the plan first.
  • Redeploy site (on a live site) rebuilds it from its saved plan. The live site keeps working until the new build is ready.

Neither is available while a build is running: wait for it to finish, then try again. The page refreshes on its own while a build runs.

Site address

Each site has a NurtureSite address like client-business-a1b2c3.nurturesite.com. Once the site has been built and paid for, you can give it a nicer name from the site page, under Site address: type the name, check it says it's available, and click Change address. Your client's owner login can do the same.

The old address keeps forwarding to the new one, including links to individual pages, so nothing your client already shared breaks. Anyone signed in to the site admin has to sign in again. A site can change its address up to 3 times in 30 days, and can always switch back to an address it used before. A site NurtureSite support has taken offline can't change its address.

Custom domains

Once a site has been built, you can connect your client's own domain from the site page, under Custom domain. It works the same way as in your client's own login, so either of you can set it up:

  1. Enter the domain (for example www.clientbusiness.com) and click Save domain. Enter the domain only, without https:// or a path. A domain that is already connected to another NurtureSite site, or a NurtureSite address, can't be saved: contact support if your client's domain is already in use.
  2. Add the DNS records the page shows at the domain's DNS provider: a TXT record that proves ownership and, depending on the setup, a CNAME or A record for the traffic. If the domain uses Cloudflare nameservers we manage, the page lists the nameservers to set at the registrar instead.
  3. Click Verify domain. Once the TXT record is found, we route the domain to the site and redeploy it. DNS changes can take up to an hour to show up; the site's NurtureSite address keeps working in the meantime.

Remove domain puts the site back on its NurtureSite address and redeploys it. A site NurtureSite support has taken offline can't have its domain changed.

Deleting an unpaid preview

A site nobody has paid for (no paid checkout link, no subscription) shows Delete this preview at the bottom of its page. Type the site's name to confirm, then click Delete site. Deleting it:

  • removes the site's build, content and preview for good;
  • cancels any unpaid checkout link, so it can't be paid any more;
  • frees its place in your site limit.

The client stays in your client list, so you can create a new site for them later. A site that is still building can't be deleted until the build finishes, and a paid site can't be deleted: contact NurtureSite support if a paying client wants to close their site.

Your client's own login

After a client's first payment, NurtureSite emails them a link to set up their own login, where they see their site, leads, billing and invoices. The client page shows whether they have one yet. Use Send login invite (or Resend) there if they lost the email: a new link replaces the one you sent before, links expire after 14 days, and you can send one every 10 minutes. While an invite is waiting, the client's email address is locked.

When a client leaves

A client stops being yours in one of three ways: you click Release client on their client page (or call POST /api/partner/v1/clients/{client_id}/release), the client leaves you from their own NurtureSite account, or the NurtureSite team detaches them. In every case:

  • The client's site and price stay the same. Their existing subscription keeps running at the price they paid through your link, billed by NurtureSite directly. They don't re-enter a card and nothing is charged again.
  • Your commission stops immediately. You earn nothing on the client's later payments. Commission already recorded, including owed or pending payouts, is not affected and is not clawed back, and a payment made before the release still earns its commission even if it is processed a little later.
  • Your access ends. The client and their sites leave your partner portal and the Partner API, and your admin login on their sites is removed.
  • Unpaid payment links are cancelled, so a link you sent earlier can't be paid any more.

We email you and the client when it happens. A released client can't be moved back to your account.
